Infinito Super 8.
International Super 8 mm Film Festival.
From November 26 to 30, 2024, city of Buenos Aires.
The first edition of Infinito Super 8, International Super 8 mm Film Festival, will take place in different venues of the city of Buenos Aires between Tuesday 26th and Saturday 30th November 2024, with free admission for all its functions. The festival will present short films made in reduced format in Argentina and other international locations.
This is the only film event of its kind in Argentina nowadays, which will host some of the best Super 8 works in the country and the world, and will offer -among other activities- a tribute to the figure and work of the recently deceased Narcisa Hirsch, poet, artist, and pioneer of Argentine experimental cinema.
In addition to having an international and an Argentinean competition, the festival will offer two presentations of local and foreign works, showings dedicated to the work of well-known Argentinean experimental filmmakers Ernesto Baca and Daniela Cugliandolo, and an exhibition of films presented in the last edition of the International Festival Inflamavel Super 8 held in Florianópolis, Brazil.
There will also be a performance of expanded cinema, with several simultaneous projectors and live music by the Strangloscope Duo, also from Brazil, whose members are internationally recognized for their film performances and for promoting the South American photochemical and analog cinema.
This festival was created with the intention of becoming a meeting place for creative exchange and the preservation of film techniques and knowledge affected by the speed of technological advances, in addition to encouraging and increasing the human link between filmmakers and cinematographies of the South American region and other places.
Considering this, registration to the festival -which will be free and open to Argentine filmmakers- will be open to all kinds of short films shot in Super 8, including fictions, documentaries, animations and experimental films, with no time limit, which means that it accepts recent works as well as others made since 1965 to date.
Infinito Super 8 has the support of the Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires and the cultural space La Tomada, which will also host the festival. The Argentine and international competitions will be held in La Tomada theaters, in addition to the spotlights and other activities.
