Aim
Why create and carry out a film festival today?
And, especially, why a film festival for Super 8 mm films?
INFINITO Super 8 aims to generate a networking, collaborative space to relive the experience of cinema, the sacred act that implies a screening in a theater on a big screen, with no interruptions. Especially in times when the consumption of audiovisual content is increasingly fast paced, customized, unfocused, and is mostly carried out on mobile devices and other small screens.
The idea behind the festival is to recover and celebrate the communitarian purpose of cinema, not only to generate joy during the screening, but also to initiate new exchanges of aesthetic, technical, theoretical and practical knowledge, which will lay the foundations for new projects and mutual collaborations between filmmakers from South America and the rest of the world.
GOALS
Based on the idea of recovering the communitarian purpose of cinema, we want Infinito Super 8 to generate a space for the promotion and marketing of new film expressions of reduced scope, emphasizing the thousands ways to see, understand and approach the world. Therefore, we open our call to fiction films and documentaries from all over the world that portray the reality of the world today, and to animations and experimental works that show us new and original ways of portraying it.
Our intention is to encourage and increase the human and creative link between filmmakers and cinematographies of the South American region and other places, to exchange and preserve knowledge and audiovisual techniques that nowadays seem obsolete and could soon be lost. To spread the passion and love of filmmaking from one person to the next, from one generation of filmmakers to the next.
In short, our intention is to create and share a new space for the marketing of independent and artistic cinema filmed in Super 8 mm, and thus achieve a way to advertise and recognize the work that so many filmmakers around the world carry out in an artistic, self-managed, almost secret way.
